Ares was the son of Zeus and Hera. He left behind quite a few offspring. Ares wasn't quite as popular in real Greece as on the show. Most of the other gods hated him (except Aphrodite of course...), and he never played by the rules. He was rarely worshipped, and even then only by thugs. Most of his time was spent with women rather than fighting. Although he was father and teacher to many great men.
